2013 SSBM Player Rankings: 61-70

Editors Note: The panelists voted on player skill in early November. As a result, ROM6 and TBH3 results weren’t placed into consideration for the majority of the panelists.

70Stricnyn3

Rank
Marquise “StriCNYN3″ Williamson
Score
70 Main(s) Falco 7.058
Region: Tri-State
Tourney Results 79th at Evo 2013
9th at Zenith 2013
9th at ROM 6
Summary:
Stric is an extremely technical falco player and is currently ranked # 2 in New Jersey under Mew2king. He has beaten the majority of top players on the east coast. Stric has a very strong spacing game, but prefers to play with an aggressive “all or nothing” playstyle.

69Bam

Rank
Maxime “Bam” Lambert
Score
69 Main(s) Falco 7.068
Region: Canada
Tourney Results 17th at Apex 2013
Summary:
Quebec has been playing Melee since the olden days, and Bam is one of the region’s original titans. His main has always been Falco, but he prefers Fox in Doubles. He seldom attends tournaments even within East Coast Canada, but places well whenever he does, including his recent 17th at Apex 2013. Also, he kind of looks like a male model.

68Zoso

Rank
David “Zoso” Hughes
Score
68 Main(s) Marth 7.088
Region: New England
Tourney Results 7th at Zenith 2013
65th at EVO 2013
25th at TBH3
Summary:
Remaining largely out of the spotlight until recent Zoso is without a doubt one of New England’s strongest players. Beginning as a C.Falcon in 2004 you will now see him playing a mix of Sheik, Marth, and Fox. His skill with each character alongside his fundamental understanding of fighting games makes him a very dangerous player. Most recently he defeated KoreanDJ in grand finals of one of Boston’s Game Over events.

67BO

Rank
Eric “Blunted_Object” Brown
Score
67 Main(s) Falco 7.097
Region: Canada
Tourney Results 4th at Northwest Majors 5
93rd at EVO 2013
Summary:
Blunted Object, a long-standing melee veteran, still gets placed under the radar at every national he enters. He has had strong recent wins against S2J and SFAT, showing that he is not to be underestimated. His unorthodox Falco utilizes forward smashes and delayed aerials to trick his opponents and find unique openings for devastating combos.

66Swedish

Rank
James “Swedish Delight” Liu
Score
66 Main(s) Sheik 7.105
Region: Tri-State
Tourney Results 9th at Zenith 2013
49th at EVO 2013
Summary:
Swedish Delight is a player from Holmdel, New Jersey who has risen in the Tri-State ranks very quickly over the past year. His main traning partner is his brother, Mr. F, who plays Jigglypuff. Swedish Delight now has one of the best Sheiks in the Tri-State area, and plays at an alarmingly high level compared to when he started in 2011.

65Gucchi

Rank
Nao “Gucci” Iguchi
Score
65 Main(s) Captain Falcon 7.129
Region: Japan
Tourney Results 25th at Apex 2013
Summary:
This stylish Japanese Falcon player made his American debut at Apex 2013. Gucci performed admirably in the US v. The World crew battle and made a decent run in the bracket. He stars in BME’s simply titled “Gucci” combo video, showcasing his creative combos and knee-heavy mentality.

64Darrell

Rank
Darrell “Darrell” White
Score
64 Main(s) Samus 7.133
Region: NorCal
Tourney Results 25th at EVO 2013
7th at ROM 6
Summary:
Darrell has been around in Norcal for several years, but it is only over the past year or two that he has begun to come into his own. Emphasizing his punish game over all else, Darrell’s drive led him to develop combos no Samus before him had ever come close to performing. His hard hitting style has gained him traction among the ranks of the West Coast up and comers, where he continues to ascend.

63Moon

Rank
Ryan “The Moon” Coker-Welch
Score
63 Main(s) Marth 7.137
Region: Tri-State
Tourney Results 65th at Apex 2013
3rd at ROM 6
9th at Zenith 2013
Summary:
One of the rising stars on the East Coast, The Moon has a very unique style of Marth that confuses many of his opponents. Starting as a new player under DJ Nintendo, his mindset and consistency in placing has allowed him to climb the ranks of players very quickly in the last two years.

62Scar

Rank
Bobby “Scar” Scarduzio
Score
62 Main(s) Captain Falcon 7.154
Region: NorCal
Tourney Results 25th at Apex 2013
185th at EVO 2013
9th at TBH3
Summary:
Scar, the self-proclaimed Most Electrifying Man in Smash today, is known for his gutsy Captain Falcon that will go off stage to trunch his opponents. As a player, he’s seen great success in both singles and doubles, placing top 8 at regionals and nationals on several occasions. He has recently taken a step down from practicing to spearhead “Melee It On Me”, a group that is focused on unifying the Smash scene with current events and content.

61Tafo

Rank
Daniel “Tafokints” Lee
Score
61 Main(s) Sheik 7.182
Region: SoCal
Tourney Results 49th at EVO 2013
33rd at Apex 2013
Summary:
Tafokints, known for a while for his janky non-conventional play, has improved his tech chasing and punish game to be a threat against the top California players. He has had some success at the Socal tournaments, beating players such as MacD, Westballz, and Hugs and hopes to continue his success at a national scale.
